Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) Class - This is approximately 32 hours of hands-on training for individuals to learn more in-depth skills in order to be self-sufficient prior to, during, and after a disaster occurs. Individuals will learn skills in team building, disaster psychology, terrorism, fire safety, disaster medical, and light search and rscue. The eight week session will end with a simulated disaster excersize so participants can put thier newly acquired skills to work.
In addition, individuals will recieve information on how they can get involved in thier neighborhoods and communities. Upon completion of all 8 weeks, individuals will recieve a backpack with initial supplies to get them started with thier individual planning efforts.
Seating is limited to 40, please register early.
The City of Brighton offers this FREE class on an annual basis. September is Emergency Preparedness month, the Brighton CERT training will start on September 15, 2011. Classes will be held on Thursday nights at 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. The cost of the class is FREE.
